What is an apprenticeship?

A capable young person comes to work full-time for an employer, and becomes a valued member of that employer's team, just like any other employee. On the job, they receive high-quality training and development from a training provider to help them on the road to their future career, gaining skills and qualifications that benefit both the apprentice and the company they work for.

How does it work?

An Apprenticeship is a partnership between employer, young person and training provider which provides high quality training and support to ensure the Apprentice becomes a qualified and competent worker, with the skills and attitudes that the employer needs. RollingSound's Creative Apprenticeship Service works with employers to get the best out of their creative staff, whether in the media industries or any business that needs a creative touch to improve their marketing, communications and presentation. We offer a number of different qualifications to meet the needs of different working environments and job descriptions. Each of the qualifications is flexible to allow the Apprentice to choose subjects that are relevant to their job.

We're not a college, so we don’t expect our Apprentices to spend a day every week in the classroom. Mostly we provide IT based learning materials, either designed by us specifically for the qualifications we offer or we provide access to professional e-learning sites. Our trainers and assessors visit the Apprentice at work to ensure they are making good progress and to help with any problems. We also run Masterclasses which deliver professional level courses, and Enterprise projects that allow Apprentices to experience different areas of work and to build their network of contacts. On average we’d expect the Apprentice to attend our centre once a month.
